Enkidu's Death

English
I blame the goddess Ishtar for Enkidu's death. Ishtar was desperate for Gilgamesh so she couldn't handle his rejection. Ishtar returned to heaven to complain to her father that Gilgamesh had insulted her. Then Ishtar asked her father to give her the Bull of Heaven. In tablet six it states "Give me the Bull of Heaven, father." she insisted. "I want to trample Gilgamesh, the arrogant one." After the bull was released, it was slain by Gilgamesh and Enkidu. While the people of Urak rejoiced with Gilgamesh, the gods had a meeting. The gods decided to kill Enkidu, instead of Gilgamesh, for slaying Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. However, Enkidu's death was not Gilgamesh's fault. Even though Gilgamesh rejected Ishtar, she went overboard for his punishment. Ishtar sent a bull to kill Gilgamesh. Ishtar made an irrational decision and let her anger cloud all of her judgement. As a result of Ishtar's actions, Enkidu died.
